Guest Speaker: Brent Theobald

Brent Theobald’s story is certain to inspire as he shares the realities of war and the long journey home. Brent served with the United States Marine Corps for three combat deployments to Afghanistan, Iraq and the Horn of Africa. As a member of the elite Marine Force Reconnaissance Company, Brent was among the first American boots on the ground in November 2001 in search of Osama Bin Laden. After his service, Brent worked with the UN, governments and humanitarian organizations to build safe havens for thousands of children in Northern Uganda fleeing the brutal reign of terror inflicted by the Lord’s Resistance Army. Brent served as the Director of Veterans Affairs at Vanguard University where he assisted veterans in their professional, personal, and spiritual development.

He is passionate about helping veterans transition successfully and he is active in helping the OC community better understand the needs of our veterans. He is currently the Senior Director of Development at Vanguard University. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business at Vanguard University and an MBA from the University of California, Irvine. He has spoken at various venues including the OC Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast, Kiwanis, Rotary, OC Real Estate Luncheon, OCCF Veterans Initiative, PIMCO, VFW, and American Legion. In addition, he has been invited to the 1st Battalion 1st Marines to share with marines preparing to deploy.

Brent is married to Caitlin Theobald who has recently written a book entitled “The Dog Tag Tales”. This illustrated children’s book tells Brent’s story of recovering from Post-Traumatic Stress through relationship with his black Labrador, Maxwell. This is a compelling story of faith and redemption.
